Snakes and Ladders provide an internal adventure playground for children with climbing frames, go-cart track and themed party rooms. The existing warehouse had reached the end of its useful life and was in need of total refurbishment.
Tuke Manton Architects were appointed to assist Armfield Construction in preparation of the construction drawings based on the very comprehensive tender drawings produced by Clive Chapman Architects. We provided support during the works on site and co-ordination of the external envelope.
The existing building was stripped back to its portal frame and concrete slab with new light grey profiled metal roof, glass roof lights, and photovoltaic panels. The walls are grey and green profile metal sheeting, clear stained larch cladding and glazed screen wall with clear stained larch overcladding/louvers. The open plan space is naturally ventilated using large wind catchers mounted on the roof.
